Meet our Software Engineer: Lee Drury
Lee was an aspiring programmer in University. Now he is an integral part to BetaJester’s projects. Whether it is producing solutions for clients or bouncing off creative strategies with the team, Lee has been a big part of BetaJester’s growth.
Tell us about your professional background or experience?
My previous jobs were during work-experience within secondary school and college, an IT Technician. Most, if not all, of my programming experience came from University, which utilised most of the same tools that are used within my day to day work.
What does your day to day at BetaJester look like?
My day to day, usually starts off with emails from clients. After that I create a plan of action for the current task(s) depending on their priority and start making my way through them. I also partake in daily meetings for progress, to make the team members aware of what I have done, and the plan of action took to get through it.
What drew you to BetaJester?
When I graduated from University, I was looking programming jobs. I found out about BetaJester from a job listing they released. It was a perfect fit! Especially because BetaJester where a small team with big projects. The team and overall environment seemed fun. This still holds truth now because having a small team is great for interpersonal relationships and cohesion in projects.
What do you like about working with the team?
I like the fact that I can bounce ideas and potential plans for implementations of features off of the team members, especially within regards to collaborative development. I also like the fact that the team is approachable, encouraging and have good respect for maintaining a good work-to-life balance which is (to understate it greatly) a massive problem within this industry.
What are your goals & targets in this role?
I have many goals that I want to achieve with BetaJester. One would be to partake in games creation, within the realm of professional production. I also want to optimise my usage with the tools for games development; be it from programming to 3d modelling. Generally, I just want to keep meeting more interesting people within this exciting industry. BetaJester has exposed me to so many cool events and opportunities which has really helped with my growth as a proffesional.
